Tips and Tricks for Successful Parenting: Teach Your Child Good Morals, Through the Role You Play as a Human

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim

As Salaamu Alaikum viewers!

Do you always rely on others to teach your child good morals and values? Do you believe they will learn on their own as they go through life? Think again! Allah has given you a blessing, your child, which you can inspire into growing up to be the best of humankind. Allah would not have overburdened you with raising a child if Allah knew you were not capable of doing so. “Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope” (Chapter 2 Ayah 286).

A parent can be everything to their child, from a friend to a counselor, to a teacher, but the best thing you can be is a role model. It is the responsibility of both parents to be their child’s first role model, so they can have a mentor in life that can guide them through the hurdles of life.

We need to set a good example for a child starting at a very young age; this can be a great way of bonding with your child. You do not need a degree to be your child’s role model as there are lots of books, websites, videos and resources out there that can teach you how to be a good role model and mentor for your child. You just have to put an effort into trying.

I will share some tips on how to be the best role model for your child. You might be a single parent or both you and your spouse are working, which means you have less time to apply these tips. Do not worry as these tips will work with any family structure.

Tips & Tricks for Successful Parenting:

– Always remember your child is watching you. Starting from infancy, children are very observant, so always be on your best behavior :).

– Becoming a parent is no easy job. Before you decide to become a parent make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Read, ask, listen and understand how to raise a child before you even have on. If you have one already, then you still can correct your mistakes as it is never too late.

– Do not be a complaining bag, meaning do not be ungrateful. Always look at the bright side of things. This behavior will have a positive impact on your child.

– Be good and respectful with the people you live with and don’t live with.

-Learn from our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), as he was the best of character.

-Make lots of Du’a

May Allah bless and allow us to teach our children through our actions and words to be successful human beings.
